Attic & Roof Insulation

Attic baffles and ventilation that keep air moving at the eaves and the roof stays dry

Insulation must never block the soffit vents. Baffles hold it back and keep a clear path for air from the eaves to the ridge.

Attic Baffles & Ventilation

Attics breathe. Air enters at the soffits, rises along the underside of the roof and leaves at the ridge or gable vents, which keeps the deck dry and the shingles cooler. When insulation is pushed into the eaves, that airflow stops and moisture can build up.

We install rafter baffles, soffit vents, ridge vents and gable fans where they are needed on homes across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. We also check bath fans and kitchen vents so they exhaust outside, not into the attic.

FAQ

Common questions about attic baffles & ventilation

Do I need baffles if I have blown-in insulation?

Yes. Baffles keep the loose fill from covering the soffit vents.

What if my attic has no soffit vents?

We can add vents or recommend a different approach, such as a sealed spray-foam attic.

Should the bath fan vent into the attic?

No. It should vent outside through a proper duct, because the moisture it moves will damage the attic.
