Spray Foam Insulation
The band of wood where the floor frame meets the foundation is full of gaps. A bead of foam seals it against air, pests and moisture.

The rim joist, also called the band joist, sits where the house framing meets the foundation. It is a long ring of small gaps, seams and wood ends, and in many homes it is a major source of drafts, cold floors and pest entry. Insulation batts rarely seal it.
We spray rim joists in basements and crawl spaces across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Closed-cell foam gives a high R-value in the narrow bay, and a continuous seal along the sill, the joists and the subfloor edge.
